More Information on our Gourmet Tours
A Private Gourmet Tour usually starts in the morning with pick-up at your accommodation. We might then start the day with a visit to one of our favourite Farms in the countryside near Montefalco (Umbria) or Pienza (Tuscany) where the young owners will share with us plenty of interesting information on their daily chores, such as cheese making, for example.
Italian Farms generally produce a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, forage plus staples like wine and extra-virgin olive oil. As a result, tastings would include fresh and aged cheese with home-made jams, bruschetta with new olive oil and a glass of good wine as well. Furthermore, if grandmother is around, it’s not uncommon to see her make fresh egg pasta, like strangozzi or gnocchi and sometimes we sit down for lunch with the whole family.
Truffle Hunting could be part of a Gourmet Tour or even Chocolate Making with a renowned artisan (if you are not visiting at the height of Summer), near Perugia. If you like cured meats, we could visit a “norcino” to see how pork meat is transformed into delicious prosciutto, salame or sausages. A Gourmet Tour always includes generous tastings and lunch and will give you a fascinating insight into rural life in Italy.
