Join us for a fantastic Day Tour, to include a guided visit to a truly unique hamlet, known as “The Dying City”. Enjoy a rustic light lunch at a small, family-run Goat Farm in the countryside, between Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio .
Civita di Bagnoregio is located just across the Umbrian border, in the region of Lazio. It rises on a rocky spur between two valleys crossed by creeks. Due to the shape of the territory, the tuff hill base where Civita stands, is in continuous erosion and because of that, it was nicknamed “The Dying City”. If this has, on one hand, sadly marked the fate of the village, on the other, it has shaped a breathtaking and almost unreal landscape.
After the Guided Tour of Civita, it is time to experience a delicious lunch break at a small Goats Farm in the countryside. First of all, we’ll get to see the beautiful Alpine Dairy Goats and finally taste their award-winning cheese and yogurt, plus local extra-virgin olive oil and wine.
On this tour you will:
- Cross Civita’s famous bridge and admire the Calanchi Valley;
- Visit the ancient Church of San Donato and see the beautiful wooden crucifix;
- Soak in the unique atmosphere of one of Italy’s most famous hilltop towns;
- Enjoy a cheese and wine tasting at a real working Farm in the countryside.
